I am looking for a web hosting company that will let me host 5-10 different domains under one acct. Posted to Google Answers It needs to have the following features: - Full FTP Access. - A Powerful control panel (web based) - SSL support for all the pages being served - I can turn Directory browsing ON, so I can browse directories of file with a web browser, not just with an ftp program. - I can specify a directory that I want password protected and I get to change the password whenever I want - Tech Support has a phone number where I can get a real live human, not just email or a form. - Low setup fee The following would be nice, but not at all required: - logs in a nice looking format - Email (IMAP or POP3 with at least 50megs of storage) - Email forwarding - optional DNS via the control panel - webDAV |

Greetings, There are literally thousands of web hosting companies out there, and I know from personal experience how frustrating it can be to find the right one. I hope I can save you some trouble in finding the right host. Although there are many different web hosts that would meet your criteria, I would like to suggest the one whose services I am currently using. I have tried a handful of different hosting services, but eventually had problems with their support (or lack thereof). I have used HostForWeb ( http://www.hostforweb.com ) for quite some time now and have been very satisfied with their service to date. (I am not an employee of HostForWeb--just a satisfied customer.) They have several different packages, but I think that their "Supreme Hosting" package is the one which meets your requirements (plus some). The package provides 5 domain pointers and unlimited sub-domains. There is no setup fee, and the package costs $19.95/month or $199.95/year. Here's the URL to the specifics: http://www.hostforweb.com/hosting_supreme.html If you would be happy with 3 domain pointers and unlimited sub-domains, the "Basic Hosting" package is half the price of the "Supreme." The details can be found here http://www.hostforweb.com/hosting_basic.html Just in case HostForWeb isn't what you're looking for, here is another host which looks good--however, I don't have any experience with them. Echolima ( http://www.echolima.com ): Echolima has several plans which would meet your requirements. The starter plan appears to meet all but SSL. However, the other plans also have SSL. http://www.echolima.com/shared-hosting/ Additional Links: HostSearch is a good way to find web hosts meeting certain requirements. http://www.hostsearch.com The HostSearch Wizard: http://www.hostsearch.com/wizard_zone01.asp Search Strategy: I used the HostSearch Wizard to find Echolima. See above for a link to the Wizard. I hope this helps in your search for a host, bikerman-ga |
