Dear Bonita,

Google is an automated search engine. That means, that Google is not
activated by human editors, who set the appearance of results, but of
an engine, that sets you in the results, depending on variables such
as the number of the sites that link to you (and their own
importance).

Google themselves write:
"Google finds most of its pages when our robots crawl the web and jump
from page to page via hyperlinks. The best way to ensure listing on
Google is for a page to be linked from lots of other pages. Google's
order of results is automatically determined by several factors,
including our patented PageRank algorithm."
(Source: Google Feedback, "How can I improve my site's ranking?"
<://www.google.com/contact/search.html#2>).

However, you have the chance to "let" Google know about your new site:
"We add new sites to our index each time we crawl, and invite you to
submit your URL. We do not add all submitted URLs to our index, and
can't make any predictions or guarantees about when or if they will
appear.

Please visit our "Add URL" page to input your URLs. Only the top-level
domain is necessary; you do not need to submit each individual page.
Our crawler, Googlebot, will be able to find the rest. Please also
realize that Google finds most of its pages when our robots crawl the
web and jump from page to page via hyperlinks. The best way to ensure
a high listing on Google is for your page to be linked from lots of
other pages."
(Source: Google Feedback, "Why isn't my web site in the index?"
<://www.google.com/contact/search.html#3>).

That might sound like a mixture of Chinese and Greek to those who are
not familiar with search engines. Therefore, there are several simple
chores you have to do to ensure that your listed in Google:

Step 0: (Before Step 1):
======
You should check if your site is searchable for the Googlebot.
Proble,ms and reasons why a web-page owuld not be included in Google:
"1. Reasons your site may not be included.

A. Your pages are dynamically generated. We are able to index
dynamically generated pages. However, because our web crawler can
easily overwhelm and crash sites serving dynamic content, we limit the
amount of dynamic pages we index.

B. You employ doorway pages. Google does not encourage the use of
doorway pages. We want to point users to content pages, not to
doorways or splash screens.

C. Your page uses frames. Google supports frames to the extent that it
can. Frames tend to cause problems with search engines, bookmarks,
emailing links and so on, because frames don't fit the conceptual
model of the web (every page corresponds to a single URL). If a user's
query matches the site as a whole, Google returns the frame set. If a
user's query matches an individual page on the site, Google returns
that page. That individual page is not displayed in a frame -- because
there may be no frame set corresponding to that page.
If you are concerned with the description of your site as seen by
search engines, please read "Search Engines and Frames". It describes
the use of the 'NoFrames' tag, which is used to provide alternative
content. If, instead of providing alternative content, you use wording
such as "This site requires the use of frames" or "Upgrade your
browser", then you are excluding both search engines and people who
use browsers with frames turned off. (For example, audio web browsers,
such as those used in automobiles and by the visually impaired,
typically do not deal with frames, which are a visual mechanism.) You
can read about NoFrames in the HTML standard here:
http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/present/frames.html#h-16.4"
(Source: Google Information for Webmasters
<://www.google.com/webmasters/2.html>).

In your case, after visiting your site, there are neither flash
problems nor frame ones, and that's good news - you're supposed to be
indexed once you are linked to other sites, unless you have put some
stop words for the Googlebot ("telling" the robot to stop indexing
from that point).

At the same step, you can write some META TAGs (key words) that are
related to what people - who are looking for vacation in florida or
related issues - might look for. Read more about this issue in this
collection of links:
http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Data_Formats/Markup_Languages/HTML/Tutorials/Meta_Tags/

Step 1: Let Google know about your site
======
Go to Google's add URL page <://www.google.com/addurl.html> and
add your site's main address. It should be mentioned, that this does
not ensure that your site would be indexed. Indexing relies first and
foremost on those who link to you.

Step 2: Let Others know about and link to your site:
======
- Write about your site to as many other related sites as possible,
asking them to list you as one of their links. You can list them in
your links. That includes, for example, local sites in Florida or in
Bonita Springs; sites that specialise in hospitality, in tourism, in
sport, or in tennis and beach.
You can see top results in here :
<://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=beach+tennis+club&sa=N&tab=gw>

- Submit your site to every search engine that does have a human
editor, such as The Google Directory <http://directory.google.com/>,
where you can list your site as a candidate for the Google Directory:
http://directory.google.com/Top/Sports/Tennis/
http://directory.google.com/Top/Recreation/Travel/Specialty_Travel/Adventure_and_Sports/Tennis/?il=1
http://directory.google.com/Top/Regional/North_America/United_States/Florida/Localities/B/Bonita_Springs/Travel_and_Tourism/Lodging/Vacation_Rentals/
http://directory.google.com/Top/Regional/North_America/United_States/Florida/Localities/B/Bonita_Springs/Recreation_and_Sports/
These are only few of the possible categories to try and place your
site, and I suggest you'll browse Google's Directory for more options.

There are many other search engines out there, here's a selection of
links to search engines:
http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Internet/Searching/Search_Engines/
Submission to other search-engines is a "science" in itself, but I'd
note that there are several good sites that deal with this question:
http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Promotion/Help_and_Tutorials/?il=1

There are also several Google Groups in which you can advertise your
new site, asking people to visit it and link to it:
rec.travel.marketplace -
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&group=rec.travel.marketplace
rec.travel - http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&group=rec.travel
(and related groups).

Step 3:
======
If none of this helps, Google's advices for the Webmasters:
". Other reasons

If your page does not appear at all, there here are some other
possible explanations.
Your site may not have been reachable when we tried to crawl it
because of network or hosting problems. When this happens, we retry
multiple times, but if the site cannot be crawled, it will not be
listed in our current index. If it was a transient problem, your site
will likely show up in the next index, which will be completed in a
few weeks.

A technical glitch on our side may have caused us to 'miss' your site.
In crawling more than 2 billion pages every few weeks, our system
experiences hiccups from time to time. Again, this is a transient
problem, and your site will likely show up in the next index. Please
be patient with us during this period, as we are not able to modify
our index by hand to add sites missed in this way.

The contents of your page or the links pointing to your page changed
significantly and you no longer have a sufficiently high PageRank, or
your page had low PageRank to begin with and a small change caused you
to be dropped from the Google index.

Your page was manually removed from our index, because it did not
conform with the quality standards necessary to assign accurate
PageRank. We will not comment on the individual reasons a page was
removed and we do not offer an exhaustive list of practices that can
cause removal. However, certain actions such as cloaking, writing text
that can be seen by search engines but not by users, or setting up
pages/links with the sole purpose of fooling search engines may result
in permanent removal from our index. If you think your site may fall
into this category, you might try 'cleaning up' the page and sending a
re-inclusion request to help@google.com. We do not make any guarantees
about if or when we will re-include your site. " (Source: Google
Information for Webmasters <://www.google.com/webmasters/2.html>).

You can improve your appearance by advertising at Google. Google has
an advertising program. When someone searches for a certain word, for
example, "bonita beach", your link would appear. It wouldn't appear as
a regular search result (it is *not* a search result), but in colour
and besides or above the normal search results. This could be a a
great solution for you - but unlike the "regular" search engine, it
costs money (See: <://www.google.com/ads/index.html>).

Google's advices for Webmasters
<://www.google.com/webmasters/index.html>.

My search strategy was to search for Google's advices for Webmasters.
I also added several searches for "search engine submission", "beach
and tennis club", etc.

[One more little thing: Google Researchers are neither Google
employees, nor affiliated with Google in any way].

I think that answered your question. Please let me know if you need
any clarifications on the question. I'd be pleased to clarify my
answer before you rate it.
