Hi datasearch-ga,
To get your site listed with search engines, it's best to get some
links to your pages from other sites.
Whilst most search engines do allow you to submit your URLs, you're
unlikely to get listed very high up the results rankings unless there
are incoming links to your site. And if you have incoming links,
you'll get listed anyway.

On the other hand, as the above article points out, it's certainly
worth submitting your site to tightly-focused directories.
"Don't submit your website to search engines, just
get it linked by a few websites that get crawled
regularly and the engines will automatically index
and deep crawl your site within a week or two,
sometimes faster."
