There was a song I used to hear on Triple J Radio (Australia) in the late
nineties, early 2000s, in the morning on Adam and Wil's breakfast show
and I am trying to find out what it was called and who it was by.
Basically it was a sort of acid-jazz number with a woman singing vocals.
It could have been a remake of an older song or a sample of the vocals.
The lyrics that I remember - probably the chorus - were along the lines of:
"I hate to say I told you so
(But I told you so)
...hate to say I told you so
(But I told you so)
What you reap
Is what you sow
What goes around comes around
Now you know
I hate to say I told you so."
I have tried googling the lyrics in various combinations. What
normally comes up is the Hives song, "Hate to Say I told you So" and
that's definitely not it. It is also definitely not J.J. Jackson 'But
It's Alright. It is also not Depeche Mode - Told you so.
I've asked this question once already with no answer - However, a
terrific answerer called fconnolly-ga said he had a song that seemed
like the right one in a mix of his or hers - however fconnolly-ga
didn't have the artist and title. The full lyrics (which seem like the
right ones to me) were:
Excuse the smirk on my face
I find it hard to erase
When you said, you said you were leaving
Wasn't funny at the time
But I knew baby in my mind
was yourself that you where deceiving.
Didn't I tell you, you'd be coming back
Didn't I tell you, I ain't having that, no, no
Now you wanna come on back to me
Talking about the way it used to be now
I hate to say I told you so
(But I told you so)
...hate to say I told you so
(But I told you so)
What you reap
Is what you sow
What goes around comes around
Now you know
And I hate to say I told you so.
What we had was bonafide
Saw green grass from the other side
Then you said you said you were leaving
I feel a cliche coming on
don't know a good thing when its gone
Well so long but who you deceiving
Didn't I tell you, you'd be coming back
Didn't I tell you, I ain't having that, no, no
Now you wanna come on back to me
Talking about the way it used to be
_______
I don't think it's an Australian song but it might be.
I'm looking for the artist and the title. |
