A year ago, in May of 2005 I visited the Tate Modern and saw a fantastic piece of sculpture/single installation that looked like an red stocking or fabric bag filled with sand or perhaps cotton (like a pillow) in a strangely anthropomorphic shape. It was about the size of a dog and sat inside a glass box in the center of the room, though I do not remember the name of the artist or the work, I do seem to remember it being in the a room directly before, or shortly before, a Gilbert and George video installation which I believe is called "In The Bush". I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could tell me the name of this work of art or even the artist. I do not know if it on permament collection or not, but if I had to guess I would say it was. | |

Sounds like Ernesto Neto type work though I don't think there has been an item of his there since 2004 and that one was a whole room installation: He has produced items that sound like what you seek however: http://www.artnet.com/artwork/424627154/ernesto-neto-o-mundo-e-o-mundo.html Probably not him but maybe someone worth exploring for that 'style' |

Apparently it was a work in this exhibition, scroll down for the names: http://www.tate.org.uk/modern/exhibitions/opensystems/default.shtm Perhaps by searching at the top of the page with the names, you can identify the artist. Ernesto Neto is not one of them. |

thank you for the suggestion of ernesto neto- though it doest not seem that he is not the artist in question, some of his work is truely exceptional. |

Good job Myorin... Glad I put the caveat in my earlier comment. Here is an online symposium of your link... I don't (and wont) use real player but if someone wants to look through it perhaps the item in question is mentioned? http://www.tate.org.uk/onlineevents/archive/OpenSystems/ |
