A year ago, in May of 2005 I visited the Tate Modern and saw a
fantastic piece of sculpture/single installation that looked like an
red stocking or fabric bag filled with sand or perhaps cotton (like a
pillow) in a strangely anthropomorphic shape. It was about the size of
a dog and sat inside a glass box in the center of the room, though I
do not remember the name of the artist or the work, I do seem to
remember it being in the a room directly before, or shortly before, a
Gilbert and George video installation which I believe is called "In
The Bush". I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could tell me the
name of this work of art or even the artist. I do not know if it on
permament collection or not, but if I had to guess I would say it was.

the exhibit i saw was not in the open systems exhibition, as this
exhibit did not go up until june 1st, around two weeks after I visited
the Tate- additionally, I found a room guide-
http://www.tate.org.uk/modern/exhibitions/opensystems/roomguide.shtm#1

that does not contain any information about the work of art in question.

Sounds like Ernesto Neto type work though I don't think there has been
an item of his there since 2004 and that one was a whole room
installation:

He has produced items that sound like what you seek however:

Probably not him but maybe someone worth exploring for that 'style'

Apparently it was a work in this exhibition, scroll down for the names:
http://www.tate.org.uk/modern/exhibitions/opensystems/default.shtm

Perhaps by searching at the top of the page with the names, you can
identify the artist. Ernesto Neto is not one of them.

thank you for the suggestion of ernesto neto- though it doest not seem
that he is not the artist in question, some of his work is truely
exceptional.

Good job Myorin...

Glad I put the caveat in my earlier comment.

Here is an online symposium of your link... I don't (and wont) use
real player but if someone wants to look through it perhaps the item
in question is mentioned?
