In my younger days as a fresh engineer, I thought that the folks
carrying their WSJ in their armpit to work as strange. Now, in my late
40's, my 3 close friends are encouraging me to subscribe, especially
as I meet VC's on a weekly basis and try to get some init / seed
funding.

With time at a premium, I am wondering if daily hard-copy WSJ to my
home is useful in non-obvious ways; Already get San Jose Merc and SF
Chron, I thought my next daily would be NYT. Don't want to tell you
about 5 magazines (hard copies of BusinessWeek, Fortune, Newsweek etc)
that I get as well as 15-20 e-zines that end up in my inbox.

For what it is worth, I am not wealthy, and don't need WSJ to track my
portfolio etc.

If you don't already get it, I would HIGHLY recommend subscribing to
The Economist rather than the Wall Street Journal. Most big
executives read the Economist, not the WSJ.

Take it from the richest man himself in a Playboy interview.

PLAYBOY: What do you read?
BILL GATES: The Economist, every page.

Thank you for your comment about the Economist. It is certainly great
brain food. There is this perception that it is mostly for
academicians. A bit expensive for my budget, I read it at public
libraries whenever I can.

Of course, there is no quick rich scheme. Howvere, the US economy at
least at my middle-management level is mostly transactional and there,
I think the timeliness of WSJ may have a value add. Agree? Am I likely
to get better appreciation from VC's if they know that I read WSJ?

Thanks again
