Question ID: 744563
Very simple: Without paying for any software, I want to burn photos
to a CD, and then be able to put the CD into my TV'S DVD player and
watch slideshow of the pictures. Since I only have a CD burner on my
computer, and not a DVD burner, what options do I have (i.e. some free
software, or using a particular type of CD) to make sure that my DVD
player will read the CD?
PS I ask because in the past, I HAVE been successful in burning my
photos to a "CD" and watching them on my dvd player. Not sure why I
can't now, maybe a slightly different type of CD?

It is not

         slightly different type of CD

 unless it is defective.

We need to know what model and make of DVD player in order to
verify/confirm the ability to play picture CDs and under which format.

Most DVD players will display simple JPEG photos so burning them on to
a CD as plain JPEG should work (No software needed ... it is part of
XP to be able to allow you to burn files to a CD).

If you want the CD to play like a slideshow you will need a DVD player
that plays MPEG format (not the only way but a common one).

You can use free software such as Picassa (picassa.google.com) to
create a movie file which is in .avi format ... you can then use a
free piece of software such as Virtual Dub (www.virtualdub.org) to
convert the .avi to .mpg format and burn to CD. (There are 100's of
different software choices...this is ONE)

We need the EXACT model not just the brand name ... look at the back
for a model number.

Here is your users manual
http://www.funai-corp.com/6pdf/om/MWD2205.pdf

If you look at page 5 you will see that this machine is NOT
able to play back video or photos from CD. Are you SURE this was the
machine you used last time? It also warns that trying to may cause a
malfunction of the unit itself.
