I'm moving to Mountain View, CA and I need a studio/practice space for
my drums and recording equipment. When I lived in Oakland, there was
this Musician's Loft on 21st St, between San Pablo and Telegraph. I
can't find anything similar here.

I would like a room for rent, preferably soundproof, where I can set
up my drums, midi keyboard and other recording equipment. I would have
access to it 24/7, and rent would be approximately $200 a month. Such
a thing must exist!

I tried Craigslist, Google.com search, but I only find results for
"Studio space", which comes with an engineer, recording equipment,
etc. I don't need a traditional studio. I suppose "practice space" is
more appropriate, but practice spaces are usually rented by the hour.
That doesn't work. I need a place I can keep the drums and equipment
and can go record when the fancy catches me. Midnight. Hit the Jack
and the Box for some curly fries then zip to my studio space and
record my crappy music. A place like this existed in Oakland (I think
they tore it down recently). Does it also exist in the Peninsula/South
Bay area?

I'm sure there are things like this in SF. But that's too far.
Something like within 20 minutes of Mountain View.

Many Thanks. Ghan.

Hello answersghan-ga,

I found something that meets many of your requirements, although the
rent is a bit high. How does this look?

Hey,
I am moving to Oakland in 2 weeks and am interested in renting a space
for my drums and recording gear. Can you forward me the info on the
space on 21st you mentioned? It sounds perfect. Any other placed in
town to practice/live that you would reccomend? Any artists lofts?

Thanks!
