Hello, I am currently working in the US on an H1-B visa. Like many, I am driven to pursue my entrepreneurial spirit, but current laws do not allow me to do so. I have processed the information from previous related questions: - http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=731971 - http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=735309 I am a software developer and the business I would like to start would be built around software that I wrote as a hobby in my free time. Hiring a US resident or citizen to do the real work in my company would be neither cost-effective nor pragmatic... the skills I can provide my business are very hard to find and would greatly increase the costs of starting the business; so the commonly offered solution of hiring somebody else is not an option for me. My question is then... since I am not allowed to be creative and contribute to the local economy by creating a business in the US, am I allowed to create a business in my home country. So, can I as an H1-B visa holder based in the US work in my free time remotely for a company based in my home country? What would be the immigration and fiscal implication of doing that? Thank you in advance for your constructive input. |
