I'm from India and got recently married. I'm now in US. My wife went
to Trichy, India - Passport office and they stamped my name
[Ravikumar] in her passport (as the spouse) but didn't issue a new
passport. Her H4 visa stamping used her old maiden name [Gowri Aathi]
though the passport had this "spouse name addendum".

Question:
* Should I get a new passport issued for her with the new name [Gowri Ravikumar]?
* If new passport is issued, what happens to the visa stamped in the old passport?
* If not, can I show the name change stamping(the addendum page) in
her passport to obtain driver's license in US for her?
* I'm from Tamil Nadu. My first name becomes my wife's last name. Would
this cause any confusion in USA?

I already researched and found the link "CHANGE OF NAME/SURNAME AFTER
MARRIAGE" http://www.indianembassy.org/newsite/instructions.asp#5b but
it's not clear whether they would issue a new passport or just stamp
spouse name in one page.
