I'm interested in the incidence of diabetes amongst those aged 65+ in
the following countries:
 - US
 - China
 - India
 - Brazil

Up-to-date figures please (2005 preferred) - please express as a % of
the total population aged 65+, e.g. "5.4% of Chinese aged 65+ have
diabetes". Please cite sources and likely quality of data.

If figures for wider population (i.e. % of total Chinese population
with diabetes etc) are easily available and supplied, will tip well
(25%).

Dear tmtinfo-ga,

I have found very detailed information for all age groups including
the 60-79 age group for all these countries, but it is from 2003. It
is from an international diabetes organisation and is described as the
most up-to-date global report on diabetes. It provides full
information as to how the determination of prevalence was made. To
obtain the information you have to register, but it is free and is
easy to use.

Would this answer your question as it would give you the figures for
all four countries at the same time? I have found some estimates for
later, but they do not necessarily break them down into age groups.

Let me know your thoughts.

Hi answerfinder,

I'm guessing that was the IDF Diabetes Atlas you looked at with the
2003 figures - but I'm afraid we need to have the 2005 figures. It
might be necessary to do this at a country level (i.e. 4 different
research sources)...

Thanks,

A
