How do I detect if a PC has Computrace on it? I want foolproof
step-by-step instructions to detect if a computer has Computrace
security and tracking software (www.absolute.com) installed on it.
Instructions should utilize built in Windows tools (Windows XP Pro) or
freeware to the largest extent possible.

Hey Cynthia,

Thanks for the warning, I must have missed that. Which section of the
Terms of Service? I could not spot it.

Thanks!

All the best,

I'll look, it might be somewhere else, but Q's get deleted all the
time for that reason.

Your Answer is correct though, I checked --great job!

Tyler,

From the TOS:

"Further Google reserves the right to refuse service to anyone at any
time without notice for any reason and to remove objectionable or
personally identifiable information from any comments or research
questions in its Use of such questions and/or comments."

Posting your own email address or other personal contact information
and soliciting funds from GA customers seems to me to be both
"objectionable" and "personally identifiable information."

Found it. It's inthe FAQ's near the bottom under "Your Privacy"

4) Should I post my email address to Google Answers if someone asks for it?
To protect your privacy, we recommend that you not post your email
address or any other personal information about yourself on Google
Answers. The site is available for public viewing and may be indexed
and crawled by search engines. Researchers are asked to not answer
questions that contain or ask for personal contact information.

Doesn't sound "strictly forbidden", however over the last couple years
they have tightened up on this because of bots harvesting emails.

Mostly though, it's that you were attempting to get payment for a
question outside the GA service... GA doesn't like that, at all.

No foolproof method is available, especially if it is loaded in the
bios. I recommend that you contact Computrace if you have any specific
reason for requiring this.
