Dear intellisquid-ga
Thank you for allowing me to answer your interesting question. The
standard extension for US Navy email addresses is indeed ?navy.mil?.
Some of them however, depending on where they are located, are
preceded by individual identifiers such as ??@mediacen.navy.mil?,
??@opnav-emh.navy.mil?, ??@smtpgw.msc.navy.mil?, etc. This email
convention not only applies to the Navy but to all branches of the
military. In short, there is no standard ?catchall? extension that
applies universally to all Naval personnel and some military members
even continue to use their standard commercial accounts for private
communication.
?There is no standard email address for service members. We choose
one, and if it is not already taken, it is ours. Usually people use
first.last@us.navy.mil, but that is not always true.?
