Question ID: 745382
I'm looking for a pointer to a service that will ship wine and hard liquor.

I am moving from Seattle, WA to New York City and have hired a moving
company to move my personal belongings. The company I've hired will
not move wine & hard liquor, so moving these is my responsibility.
Ideally I would like to use a shipping service to ship these items to
myself...

So, how do I go about moving these?

Are these the kinds of services you seek?

Vintrust appears to be a service that provides shipment from winery's
and temporary wine storage. I'm not a winery, nor do I need temporary
storage. I'm just an individual with a well stocked home bar. (Say 70
bottles nearly all liquor).

Western Carriers appears to provide a service similar to what I'm
looking for, which is strictly transportation from one address to
another. However, a quick call to them confirms that they are better
suited for much larger collections (entire pallets, rather than a few
cases).

Services similar to Western Carriers, but better suited for my small
collection are what I'm looking for.

Thank you for the quick response.

Are you locked into a deal with the moving company that won't deal
with wine? If not, you might want to look into United Van Lines:

Pack with newspaper so the bottles don't clink. Label as something else.

If you're shipping during hot summer months, you'll want a
refrigerated truck (for the wine). You might try calling a flower
transport company - cooled trucks and they know how to pack fragile.
Make sure the refrigeration stays on all the time during the transport
to insure a constant temperature.

Moving companies have packed closed bottles of wine and open/closed
bottles of liquor for me. They took no special precautions other than
what might be taken for glass. Here's what one mover recommends:
