On December 31, 2005 more than 12,000 drank a simultaneous toast
(glass of wine) in Las Vegas breaking the former Guinnes Book record
of 10,079 person sake toast, which is held by a Japanese Sake company.

"Eating contest and beer and alcohol consumption entries are no longer
accepted, possibly for fear of litigation."

IF there is such a record to be found in the GBWR it would have to be
from the 1990 or earlier edition. Drinking 'records' were excluded as
of 1991.

Good going Tutuzdad...the new owners of Guiness WRB must have had a
change of heart?

Here is a snippet from a PRnewswire release that establishes the
record for Largest Toast (not necessarily shots) at 13,500:

Las Vegas and Beaulieu Vineyard Break Guinness World Record

Las Vegas Toast of the Century by BV Certified World's Largest Toast

LAS VEGAS, June 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Beaulieu Vineyard (BV), historic
Napa vintner and wine sponsor of the Las Vegas Centennial Celebration,
received confirmation that the Las Vegas Toast of the Century by BV on
December 31, 2005, broke the world record for "largest simultaneous toast
in one venue." The official certificate from Guinness World Records
received on May 31, 2006, establishes the new record at 13,500
participants.

I have NOT been able to locate anything from Guinness themeselves that
confirms this ... all I've been able to find are press releases from
the Winery....

Pink ... based on the findings of tatuzdad and myself with the press
release... I have gone to the Guiness site where the list 4000 of
their many records and there are indeed still alcohol drinking related
ones as late as 2004 (for
instance:http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/content_pages/record.asp?recordid=56408
).

I have added a discussion point to WIKI Guinness World Records (under
the name KsprayDad) to see if we can have WIKI updated on concensus
that the info you found is incorrect.
