Ive noticed that the great depths of the pacific - the Mariana trench is identically formed like the islands of Japan, Shakalin and the small islands northwards, and of course there has to be an reasonable reason to it. I find it hard to believe that the Mariana trench and Japan EVER have had a very close relationship, because of the height/depth differences. Mountains are formed by glaciers, rivers or continental plates moving towards eachother. The mariana trench IS at the very rim of a continental plate, being pushed downwards, but is seemingly not close enough to form Japans geographic look, as the trench is too far away from The Japanese islands, and since the trench is at the rim of another plate, I just dont get it.... I've struggled with this since I was a child of 13.... Please help ? I can stand the wait. Ive bought a package with ibux. :) - Vendel |

Indeed, Japan itself resides at the edge of a subduction zone. That's why there are so many earthquakes on the Japanese islands; it's a highly geologically active region. The crescent shape of the Mariana Trench doesn't really correspond tit-for-tat to the distribution of the islands. It's largely a coincidence. |

Coincidence ? Take a further look. It has the same formation (and length) and follow these islands patterns extremely exact ! If you look at the Japanese islands (south in the country) you'll see its the same formation in the trench as well! Are you possibly sure ? :s Its just seem too unlikely that its just a coincidence .... But please understand. I just want you to confirm this, Im not doubting on your experience and knowledge :) |

I made a map for you www.vendelen.com/compare.png As Im sure you see, the depths left of Sakhalin do also have the same formation as the island. Funny though if all of these years of struggle to understand, is nothing to understand at all. Its all just coincidences... *grin* ....or should I cry? but thank you guys, I love this google service. I bid you a good day Ingmund Bygstad (25ys) |
