Hi all,

which is the "best" BB system to use for a website? By "best", I mean
something that's easy enough to manage, good templates to choose from
which can be more-or-less easily edited if desired. I don't know what
else I would want or need, as it's my first time hosting a site or a
BB. My Host offers the following:

SMF
PHP/MySQL Bulletin Board System

Vanilla Forum
PHP/MySQL Bulletin Board System

XMB
PHP/MySQL Bulletin Board System

YaBB (from CPSkins)
PHP/MySQL Bulletin Board System

 phpBB (from CPSkins)
PHP/MySQL Bulletin Board System

punBB
PHP/MySQL Bulletin Board System

YaBB (from cPanel)
Perl/MySQL based forum

phpBB (from cPanel)
PHP/MySQL based forum

phpBB2

Are they any of these that should be avoided? Any reccomendations as
to others? From the little bit I've seen, I've liked how vBulletin
works. Any of these resemble vBulletin? Or should I ask my Host to install
it?

I won't be running a massive board; a dozen or so topics, with few
members and posts (unless my site takes off like crazy, which I highly
doubt).

So, what do you all recommend?

I would highly recommend Vanilla. Its strength is in its user
interface. Elegant, well thought out layout with responses clearly
related to each other. Also has RSS feeds which is a great way to keep
up with a bulletin board without having to keep visiting or get
e-mails sent from it. Hands down the best game in town right now in my
opinion. Good luck.

Hi, thanks for your response. I tested out a clean install, and I also
visited the official forum on their site, and I didn't like it too
much. I prefer the style the vBulletin has. Any other suggestions?

Thanks again!

Hust an update; I've installed SMF, and I like it so far. Next step is
to edit the theme to something better. Thanks for your help anyways!

1)fast
2)Easy to use
3)Friendly interface
4)Ajax supported
