Opera used to do it, and they stopped.
AOL's Instant Messenger does a lot of it these days.
ICQ does it too, I think.

I'm talking about applications that display third-party advertising,
either within their contextual application (AIM) or without (popups?
supplemental advertising banners appearing in webpages).

Can anyone come up with a list of software that is advertising
supported? AKA adware, but is not typically targeted as spyware?

I would prefer a list that might be sorted into two parts, those
likely detected by Anti-Spyware vendors as adware, and those that are
likely not. AIM is rarely detected, for example. Dealio is sometimes
detected.

I would prefer a lot _MORE_ listings of those who are likely not
detected by Anti-Spyware vendors. It's pretty easy to find those that
are! (I could just go to the threat-summary page and query around, if
that were the case).

Thanks!

The more the better, and of course these would be current versions,
not old betas in dusty antiquity.
