Hello stephenh-ga

FYI:

The hitching post is a metal post which sticks out of the ground and
was used during Abe Lincoln time to tie up there horses when the
cowboys went into the bar to have a few drinks. It is stand as one of
the last hitching post in the city of Washington DC

FYI: Eastern Market is an upscale neighborhood in south east Washington DC.

Just so researchers know:

This one is labled by the Washington Post as
"The hitching post in front of a Sixth Street SE house. (By Julia
Feldmeier -- The Washington Post)"

Is NOT the one.
