I'm a gay male US citizen in a relationship with a male UK citizen. We've
decided we'd like to register for a Civil Partnership and live
together in the UK (I currently live in California). The requirements
to file for a "proposed civil partnership visa" seem long and
time-consuming, but I think I can work through it all. However, the
decision as to whether to grant me the visa seems
somewhat subjective, so I'm wondering how strict they will be --
especially since there's a non-refundable $500 visa application fee.

It would be helpful to get more advice on the application process for
this type of visa. Specifically, I was wondering how I might be able
to locate and connect with other people who have applied for a
proposed civil partnership visa from the US to the UK.

The site I am using for the list of requirements to apply for a
"proposed civil partnership visa" is here:
http://www.britainusa.com/visas/articles_show_nt1.asp?i=65035&L1=41000&a=41205

I also found this website, which provided some advice:
http://www.uklgig.org.uk/Civil%20Partnership.htm#Leave_to_enter_for_CP

How can I find people who have applied for this type of visa -- people
to email or chat with, and/or message boards? Preferably as the
applicant themselves, but maybe also professionals who've helped
people apply. Also any more trustworthy websites that give advice on
this specific topic would be helpful.

Thanks for reading my question. And thanks in advance for any time
you might spend on this.
