Hi - I believe that the syndrome that you are describing is Turner syndrome (a chromosomal abnormality or absence of one x chromosome). This sydrome is restricted to females (you need at least one x chromosome for survival) and has symptoms such as gondal dysgenesis (non-development of female reproductive organs) and diabetes (frank diabetes around 5%, glucose intolerance around 25%). Other commonly associated findings are short stature, facial abnormalities, cardiac (heart) malformations, and hypothryoidism. A description of the syndrome: http://www.icondata.com/health/pedbase/files/TURNERSY.HTM The Turner Syndrome Society of America also maintains a web-page with many links to information: http://www.turner-syndrome-us.org/ Another site describing Turner syndrome: http://www.healthcentral.com/peds/top/000379.cfm Search strategy: Google searchs: "turner syndrome", diabetes "gonadal dysgenesis" synarchy |
