I guess you would have to quantify reconcile which would be hard to do.
Forgive AND Forget vs Forgive and Not Forget etc

Her is a little snippet from a 2005 interview with Paul:

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY insists he shared a fiercely competitive
relationship with JOHN LENNON even after THE BEATLES split up.

The 61-year-old rocker recalls how the pair jousted creatively in a
flurry of ongoing musical one-upmanship, but he admits Lennon always
managed to top him.

He says, "I remember reading that when John heard COMING UP he said,
'Oh bastard McCartney. I've got to write again!'

"It reminded him of the standards we both could reach. It's
interesting that it was a little song like that, not particularly
earth-shattering.

"It would happen to me too. I would hear something and go, 'Oh, here we go again.'

"It was like a see-saw. He'd write NOWHERE MAN, so I'd have to write
PAPERBACK WRITER.

"BRIAN WILSON (BEACH BOYS) would write PET SOUNDS, so I'd have to get
the SERGEANT PEPPER concept, then John would have to write A DAY IN
THE LIFE to top us all!"

So...he is fiercely competitive but does that mean the are not reconciled?

Here is some infor from Rolling Stone in 1975:

One of the few musicians Lennon allowed himself contact with in this
time was McCartney, who sometimes dropped by unannounced with a
guitar, to Lennon's minor annoyance. When the Beatles' legal matters
were settled in 1975, Lennon and McCartney were able to re-establish a
cautious but respectful relationship. Each sometimes praised the
other's solo work, and in one of his last interviews, Lennon paid
McCartney his highest compliment. "Throughout my career I've selected
to work with . . . only two people: Paul McCartney and Yoko Ono . . .
That ain't bad picking." Overall, Lennon's feelings about the Beatles
had turned warmer -- he knew they were unrivaled -- but he never once
considered any of the many demands or invitations for a reunion of the
group. "Why should the Beatles give more?" he said. "Didn't they give
everything on God's earth for ten years? Didn't they give themselves?
Didn't they give all?"

From Wiki:

By this time Lennon and McCartney's friendship had been eroded by
years of friction and rivalry; they were reconciled to some extent
before Lennon's death on December 8, 1980.

Paul (Sir Paul) lives just around the corner from me ...

If I see him while I am dog walking, I'll ask.

That rolling Stone snipet seems to answer my question, but I guess I
have never come across that, ever....

I read a book about the Beatles that said that Paul McCartney was
quoted as saying that when John was living in L.A. and drinking a lot,
Paul and Linda flew there and convinced him to go back to Yoko in New
York. Don't know if Paul made that up or if it actually happened. But
if it did, then it shows that there was some sort of relationship.

When I ask about whether they "reconciled," I am looking to see
whether their relationship ever approached their relationship level in
the mid 60's, when they were best friend and writing partners. After
the Beatles broke up, things got very nasty between the Beatles,
especially between John and Paul. So I always wondered if their
relationship ever improved and it did, in what way?

deltonsmith...

If the rollingstones reference satisfies you, please close down the
question and take your $9.50 to buy some Lennon/McCartney music!

Glad I could help.

I think you mean John Lennon Ono.
John took on Yoko's name when he married her, didn't he?

Cheers

Here in the UK, ono means 'or nearest offer'.

He changed his name to John Winston Ono Lennon.... In the late '60s,
when he and Yoko were getting hot and heavy, he signed a lot of things
"JohnandYoko" and said that they were "one" and did everything
together. It was probably a reaction to the animosity towards Yoko and
towards John and Yoko's relationship...

And yes I probably will take down the $10 since you so answered my
question so well ( and for free!). Thanks...
