Hello, I am responding to your question regarding gay meeting places
in New Delhi and Hyderabad, bars, other venues, etc. There are some
bars in New Delhi that have certain gay nights, but do not advertise
due to fear of discrimination. Below is information concerning the
limited gay scene in India as well as some places to meet. I have also
included discussion forums.

-------------------------------------
On the Gaytime's page for lesbians and gays in India there is some
good information:

"New Delhi Other main cities/resorts:Bombay, Calcutta, Madras,
Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmadabad, Kanpur, Nagpur, Lucknow, Pune...

There is virtually no gay scene in India. The emphasis is very much
into outdoor cruising. However, there are some bars for example the
"Voodoo Pub" in Colaba (Bombay) claims to be the only gay bar between
Istanbul and Bangkok and is pretty much exclusively gay on Saturdays.
Several organisations for gays and lesbians also exist and they
occasionally organise events.

New Delhi's only gay night is at the enticingly named "Pegs N Pints"
in Chandkyapuri on Tuesday nights! "

"GAY NIGHT ON ALL TUESDAYS AT PEGS N PINTS

The new place to be on Tuesday nights at Pegs N Pints. Last Tuesday
(i.e. May 13, 2003), its first night in the Gay Avatar was a huge
success with many gay men landing up and having a great time drinking
and dancing. On May 20th, there were over 100 gay men and women
dancing till 2.00 in the morning.. This promises to be THE place to be
at during the week. We are quite certain that it will pick up even
more. Going in it's favour is the location, easily accessible and a
good atmosphere.

LOCATION: PEGS N PINTS, Chanakya Lane, Behind Akbar Bhawan,
Chanakyapuri (this is next to the Chanakya Cinema, towards the end of
the road)
TIME: 09.00 PM onwards till about 2.00 a.m. (Best time to get there is
around 10.30 p.m. or so)
PRICE: No cover charge"

 Some more information here:
"There is a vibrant, if largely underground gay nightlife in cities
such as Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore, including discos and nightclubs.
The police used to harass homosexuals in the past but things have
changed dramatically in the last six years. The situation in smaller
cities like Hyderabad is more complicated, while there are no gay
discos or parties, there are however cruising areas in all major
cities. These cruising places are still occasionally monitored by the
police, especially in North India but the biggest threat seems to come
from blackmailers and hustlers."

"The Internet has created a prolific gay cyber culture of sorts, with
chatrooms and Gay dating sites providing an alternative way for
meeting people. Websites like GayBombay offers a safe and convenient
environment for meeting gays all around India, organizes various
events - parties, treks, film festivals, cooking meetings etc. There is
a lot social tolerance of gays in cities while in rural areas
relationships among men are accepted but kept under wraps."

Here are some sites to look at. Perhaps you could ask questions about
the local scene in discussion groups.

"India's largest Gay online community featuring personals, chat,
forums and real life events across India. Free to use."

"covering Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad,
Ahmadabad, Pune and all other Indian cities.
? free webcam chat rooms
? free to message guys
? free to view profiles and pictures
