My soon-to-be husband and I will for job purposes need to live and
work in two different states. He will be in Louisiana and I will be
employed in New York. We are wondering how we can avoid being double
taxed on our incomes when we file next year (and subsequently), since
neither of us will receive income from the other's state. Will we be
double-taxed by these two states? Can we file jointly on our federal
return but seperately in LA/NY? Further, will he have to pay taxes on
part of my NY income in LA because LA is a community property state?

Thank you for your help.
