Hello there, first time I use Ggggle Answers (this service looks
great) and potentially a good client in the near future...
The question itself needs only 2 lines, but let me give some background first
**** Introduction/Scope:
Before a company sends out a mailing (direct marketing), some
softwares out there can help to check/correct/enrich customers
addresses by
- comparing them to postal norms (in the US: ?CASS?, ?PAVE?, etc...)
- deduplicate
- enrich the address (complete ZIP codes, names of street, point of
delivery, etc...)
- presort batches of letter (to get discounts from the post)
- ...
This is called "address hygiene" or "address quality" or "address
verification" or ...
Examples of that kind of software : 'Bulk Mailer' from Satori
Software, 'Mail Manager 2010' from BCC Software, Uniserv in Europe,
etc...
In some countries, you can apply for postal discounts (cheaper
postage) if you use such a software to improve the quality of your
addresses. But of course it has to be certified by the postal
authority of the country.
I'm looking for the list of those softwares (any format pdf, doc, xls,
links?) that are certified in this sense. I have already found the
answer quite easily for
- the USA (http://www.ribbs.usps.gov/files/ where you find the list
for address normalization softs --> 'CASS'link, and for presorting
softs --> 'PAVE' link)
- CANADA (http://www.canadapost.ca/tools/pdf/getpdf.asp?pdf=/offerings/address_management/pdf/serp-e.pdf&lang=e
)
- and FRANCE (http://www.laposte.fr/sna/IMG/doc/Liste_des_revendeurs_de_logiciels_RNVP.doc)
**** Question
I'm now looking for the list of softwares that are certified in this sense
- in GERMANY (name of the incumbent post there : Deutsche Post)
- in the UK (name of the incumbent post there : Royal Mail)
I?m interested in an answer in any language (English preferred, native
languages accepted of course)
Extra scope (and extra TIP?) :
if such businesses/standards exist in those countries (this
information itself being of some value to me?) :
- Spain
- Italy
- Belgium
- Netherlands
- Norway
- Sweden
- ?
I price this question reasonably because I don?t think it?s such a
long research, but I?ll be happy to tip generously for a prompt and
extensive answer.
I?m interested in any additional information on this business (address
quality) or on companies involved you may find in the process of this
specific search, and they are likely to lead to new questions I will
post on GA
Good luck!

Hi Bobbie,
I'm not expecting any precise number, because I'm expecting to find
the total list, as an official published doc (like in the links I
mentioned, we find ~23 programs in the list for Canada, ~12 in France,
and ~20 companies in the US)
If after a serious research on 1 country (Germany or UK) you suspect
that there is such a process of certification by a postal
organizationthere, but no such list available (I would be surprised),
I guess the "top 10" would be a satisfactory answer.
And if you can prove there is no such process of certification, that's
a good piece of info as well of course.
Hope that it helps and that you will try to answer the question. Is
there anything else that I can clarify ?

Thank you for the clarification. If I locate useful information I will
post it here.
In any case, your question is still open so other researchers will be
trying to find the answer as well.

Hello again Neoba,
I found the UK list of software but before I post the answer I would
like to confirm the German part of my answer.
Is this the correct information for Germany?
Deutsche Post Address Verification

Software Solutions provided by Deutsche POst

Hi again,
Great for UK & thanks for asking confirmation for Germany
Unfortunately this is not the correct information as those links seem
to be relating to Deutsche Post's own services for address validation
and small ready-to-download tools available to anyone.
As you can see for France, Can, US & hopefully UK, I'm interested in
identifiying specialized private companies that provide more
sophisticated solutions, but still need some form or certification by
the post to be credible.
Have you already spent a lot of time on this research ? If so tell me
and I will raise the price a little bit or tip. I'd really like to get
my hands on the German list.
Hint that could help you : the company 'Uniserv GmbH' is supposed to
be the leader in this field in Germany, and must be in that list we're
seeking.
Good luck
Neoba
PS/ I may then need to find a lot of information on some of thoses
companies (Revenues, filed accounts when the exist, number and type of
clients, specificities, contacts, etc...). Is this an area where you
would be able/willing to help as well ?

Dear Neoba,
Due to the language barrier I have not been able to locate a list of
software providers for Germany. I only have the UK list.
"I may then need to find a lot of information on some of thoses
companies (Revenues, filed accounts when the exist, number and type of
clients, specificities, contacts, etc...). Is this an area where you
would be able/willing to help as well ?"
Just post your new questions and if I can find the answers you need,
I certainly will answer them. If not, other reseachers will be
working on your questions.
Best regards,

Hello Bobbie7,
Thank you. Sorry I couldn't answer earlier.
I've posted a new question titled "Address Verification IN THE UK (for
Bobbie7-ga)" , just for you to be able to post the UK part of the
answer.
I will post one for Germany in case someone can help.
Thank you for you research and clarification requests!
