Performance indicators measuring the DSM showed mixed results for the
month of June 2006.
Major indicators such as the DSM general index, total trading volume,
number of deals and market value have increased in value during the
month while total trading value decreased.
Alshall Index (cap weighted) finished the month at 977.45 on 29/06/06
showing an increase of 0.04% compared to the end of the month of May
when it closed at 977.05 points. The index registered its lowest
reading for the month of June (931.87 points) on 21/06/06 and its
highest reading (988.79 points) on 04/06/06.
At the end of June, the official DSM Index finished at 7,627.92
points, gaining 0.07% of its closing value at the end of May (7,622.68
points).
Total volume during the month of June (21 working days) reached
123.23mn shares; this was higher by 9.45% as compared to the total
traded volume of shares during May (23 working days) which was
112.59mn shares.
The daily average of traded shares during June increased 5.868mn
shares compared to a daily average during May of 5.361mn shares. Total
number of deals stood at 114,871 for the month of June compared to the
total number of deals during May (110,525).
A new company was listed during the month (Rayyan Bank) making the new
number of listed companies 34 in all.
Seventeen of the total 34 listed companies? stocks advanced and ended
the month at higher prices than their previous month last trading
day?s prices, while 16 stocks declined and ended at lower prices than
the previous week last trading day?s prices.
The value of traded shares for June amounted to QR4.38bn, while the
highest value of traded shares achieved in one day (25/06/06) was
QR538.21mn and the lowest value of traded shares was QR67.86mn on
08/06/06.
The value of traded shares during June was -27.29% lower than May (QR
6.02 bn), and the daily average traded value was QR 208.5mn compared
to a daily average traded value during May of QR286.8mn.
Market capitalisation of the 34 listed companies reached QR233.16bn on
29/06/06; an increase of 6.28% compared to previous month?s market
value which was QR219.38bn.
The highest market capitalisation was for the financial sector, which
represented 46.18% of the total market value, followed by the
industrial sector (35.83%), telecommunications sector (9.14%),
consumer services sector (4.36%), utilities sector (4.33%), and the
health care sector (0.16%). |
