When the Toy Story film was in development, I believe the character Buzz Lightyear was at first called something else. What other name or names did Disney have in mind for him please? |

Dear goverton-ga The answer is "Lunar Larry" The same question appears on "The Disney Trivia Net" which is "maintained by Josh Shipley at Walt Disney Imagineering." http://disneytrivia.j3cm.com/Pages/trivia2000.html More appears on this site which gives detailed information on Disney's cartoons. However it is only available through Goggle's cache. "Finding suitable names for the two lead characters was the next challenge. "We started with Lunar Larry and much sillier names," recalls Lasseter. "We were thinking of all these things in outer space and lightyear came up, and then we thought of astronaut Buzz Aldrin. The next thing you know we had Buzz Lightyear. It was such a perfect name for him, and so much of his personality grew out of that name." The name Woody was inspired in part by Woody Strode, the actor best known for his roles in John Ford westerns." http://216.239.39.100/search?q=cache:AMutNiS_iGgC:members.fortunecity.com/backtodisney/ToyStory.html+%22making+of+toy+story%22+%22buzz+lightyear%22+name&hl=en&ie=UTF-8 "To infinity and beyond!" answerfinder-ga Please do not hesitate to ask for clarification of this research, or if the links do not work. Search strategy: "making of toy story" "buzz lightyear" name ://www.google.com/search?q=%22making+of+toy+story%22+%22buzz+lightyear%22+name&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&start=10&sa=N "larry lunar" buzz ://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=%22lunar+larry%22+buzz |
