We am trying to set up a language website for our club that charges a small fee for access to very short audio clips (probably as .wav). There would be no charge to browse the website, only to hear the audio clips (similar to Dictionary.com). Would we be able to do this on our own (computer literate but not programmers) using some combination of MS Frontpage (or Dreamweaver), Access, and/or other commonly used commercial programs? We do not plan to host this website ourselves; rather, we would use try to use a service something like GoDaddy or Yahoo that would also provide merchant services (credit card processing, etc). I am thinking that creating the website itself wouldn't be too difficult as it would be fairly basic, but the merchant part might require some custom programming to make it seamless for the consumer (get password and audio access instantly after entering credit card info). We have an extremely small budget so our options are pretty limited. Alternatively, would it be possible for one of us (the smarter one) to self-learn how to do this in a (somewhat) reasonable amount of time (e.g., 6 months)-or are we simply too unrealistic? |

Do you want to charge a monthly subscription service for an all inclusive access to all audio files. You may want to consider incentive offering for the services, similar to the Napster way, more so then the iTunes way. You can offer a rate of like 9.95 per month for 1-10 audio clips. 29.95 for 1-40 audio clips, and it is set for recurring billing. This offers you residual income if your product offerings can sustain themselves. If this is something of consideration, I can help you carve out some probable scenarios to your approach. Otherise there are some solutions that require very little programming available. |
