Hi! I am a foreign graduate student at a Univ of California. I have credit card debts to the order of $20,000. I lent this money to pay for some medical bills. Now I have to pay about 600 dollars a month for minimum payments. This is all very hard for me. As this is summer, I dont have any money. Should I file for bankruptcy? Will it affect my chances to get a job after an year or so when I finish my PhD? Will it affect my chances to be employed by my school too? IF yes, how do I file bankruptcy myself? I dont have money to pay to any lawyers? Even during school time I make around 1400 a month and pay for rent etc approximately 550 a month. Is the risk worth it? I know I will graduate in a year or two for a 60K+ job, but is starting with 20 K credit card debt and 30K education loan(back home) worth it? THanks |
