Hello,

The Xbox 360 HD-DVD add-on is expected to cost under 130 Euros or
between 200 and 250 dollars.

?Retail sources in the UK have told GamesIndustry.biz that Microsoft
has intimated to them that the HD-DVD add-on for the Xbox 360 will be
priced such that console and peripheral combined are cheaper than
Sony's PS3.?

(?)

?Currently, the Xbox 360 retails at GBP 279 in the UK, with the Core
System version selling for GBP 209, while the 60GB model of the
PlayStation 3 is expected to cost between GBP 399 and GBP 419 when it
arrives in late November.?

(?)

?Microsoft's alleged comments to UK retailers seem to suggest that the
HD-DVD peripheral, which allows playback of high definition movies
using Toshiba's next-generation DVD standard, will be priced below GBP
130.?

Microsoft planning on sub $250 HD-DVD add-on

?Gamesindustry.biz reported that retail sources had informed them
about Microsoft planning on a HD-DVD add-on for Xbox 360 which
combined with the console would be cheaper than upcoming PS3.?

?In the UK, Sony's PlayStation 3 is estimated to hit the price spot
around £400, while Xbox 360 retails for £279 and the Core System
version for £209. This gives Microsoft £130 (approximately $250) for
the HD-DVD player.? http://www.afterdawn.com/news/archive/7554.cfm

?GamesIndustry.biz is reporting on information given to UK retail
sources from Microsoft suggesting that the combined price of an Xbox
360 and the HD-DVD add-on could be less than the cost of a PlayStation
3. With the premium Xbox 360 selling for £279 in the UK and the PS3
expected to cost around £400, a price of less than £130 seems likely.?

(?)

?Nothing has been mentioned yet on a possible US price, but if it
follows the same formula the cost is likely to be well under $200.?

The Buzz: Retail sources have revealed that the Xbox 360 HD DVD add-on
will retail for under £130.

?Retail sources have revealed to GamesIndustry.biz that Microsoft
intends to launch the HD DVD add-on unit at a price which keeps the
console and add-on below that of the PlayStation 3. The comments which
come from unnamed sources, suggest that Microsoft will launch the
add-on at under £130, effectively making HD DVD equipped Xbox 360s
£410 (£340 for HD DVD equipped Core Pack Xbox 360s).?

??the add-on price of US$199-299, we believe. Sources say that
Microsoft hopes to unveil the HD DVD drive at a price that competes
with the higher-end PS3, which would mean that it would have to be
priced at US$199 or less.?

=======================

?Retail sources claim to have been informed by Microsoft that the cost
of the drive combined with the cost of Xbox 360 will still set
consumers back less than the cost of Sony's PS3, according to a report
on GamesIndustry.biz. A quick bit of maths based on top-end prices
(279 GBP for the Xbox 360 premium pack and the 400 GBP, approximately,
for the PS3 60Gb model) spits out the sub-130 quid figure for the
HD-DVD drive that's being talked about.?
