I'm using publisher 2003 and I'm about to go insane. Microsoft came
up with the ingenious idea in its earlier pub versions to put all
bitmap graphics through some filter that converts all graphics to
highly compressed jpg files (See
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/230370/ ;also see my website,
http://www.studiomiller.net). I thought I found a way around it by
inserting the graphics at the native resolution and dpi that they were
going to be used on the site, but for some strange reason, some of the
graphics were filtered and others were not.
What's my best bet for
***keeping the files as high a resolution and quality as
possible?***
Ideally, I would like publisher to just copy my original
graphics without modification to the website directory and link them
to the publication in their native resolution.
Actually, you can "link" graphics already in Publisher, but the same
problem occurs, as the graphic is still put through the filter for
some reason. Bandwidth is not a major concern at the moment and the
server seems pretty fast. Keep in mind that I'm using publisher
because I don't know html or related languages, though I can probably
follow instructions. Finally, I need a solution that will still allow
me to place graphics or placeholders within Publisher 2003--something
that I won't have to go through a lot of trouble in replacing the
organizational formatting that I have presently.
