Once a text message has been sent is there anyway of retrieving it or
any record of its contents kept? and if so how would a person get
those records? Tmobile for example

usually mobile phone operators, maintain a database for all smses. if
you are from police then they can provide you...else i think not.

My motorola v3 razr keeps a copy of the message sent in the 'outbox'.
