How do you display the picture contained in a *.bmp file onto the
monitor's screen, using windows 98? The only way I know is inserting
it into "PaperPort" and displaying it from there, which is tedious. Is
there a better way?
Is there a way of displaying a *.bmp file in DOS 6.2 without going to windows?

how do

Under Windows 98 you can use IrfanView, found at www.irfanview.com

The first Google search result for "dos image viewer" is a program
called PictView, found at www.pictview.com
