We'd like to know the following; which would involve replacing the top
lid of a Macintosh Powerbook Pro laptop with a new lid (exact same
material) with the purpose of customizing or changing the "apple logo"
to be something on our own.

? Please find at least 1 company and/or 2 freelancers that can provide
this service.
? If no commercial service is available, please find instructions and
materials on how to accomplish the aforementioned goal.
? Find at least 3 photos of examples (from any source) of laptops
modified as we desire. Can it even be done?

Hello minibox-ga,

I have some leads for answering your question but I need some
additional information from you to be able to sort out the
possibilities.

1) How many laptops are you planning to modify this way? Is this a one
time project or will you want to customize multiple laptops? How many?

2) Do you require 3 photo examples of Mac Powerbook Pro laptops only
or are you willing to accept examples of other brand laptops as well
to demonstrate the modification possibilities?

I look forward to your clarification.

Not sure how many, probably less than 10. This is not for mass
production by any means. Yes, any examples of a macintosh laptop with
a different logo (illuminated) would be sufficient. Thank you.

Hello minibox-ga,

Changing your PC or laptop is called modding. I?ve found some services
that can do it for you but I think you probably can do it for
yourself. I?m including links to several illustrated tutorials that
will give you step-by-step instructions. I?m also including lots of
photos as examples and inspiration as well as some general resources.

Have fun!

case mod
[from ?case modification?]

1. Originally a kind of hardware hack on a PC intended to support
overclocking (e.g. with cutouts for oversized fans, or a freon-based
or water-cooling system).

2. Nowadays, similar drastic surgery that's done just to make a
machine look nifty. The commonest case mods combine acrylic case
windows with LEDs to give the machine an eerie interior glow like a
B-movie flying saucer. More advanced forms of case modding involve
building machines into weird and unlikely shapes. The effect can be
quite artistic, but one of the unwritten rules is that the machine
must continue to function as a computer.
