what if i don't agree with a charge from the ending of a rental agreement? can the rental agency send this "debt" to a collection agency to demand payment? i understand that medical and credit card debt collectors are collecting money that was given with the understanding of repayment but how can a rental agency make such request when the charge was neither agreed upon or signed over that it will be paid. | |

I agree with tisme-ga. It's probably in the contract and you just need to read it closer. |

Sure a collection agency will take the debt. You would be very wise not to have it go to a collection agency as this will show negatively on yoru credit report. If it has been refered to a Collection Agency the first thing they will do will throw out an Open Collection on your Credit report. Then if you pay it is shows, "Paid Collection" even paying it does not negate the negative impact of a Collection. Best to check on your Credit Report now. |
