Question ID: 750067
How do I fix this problem: Hypertext links do not open in Yahoo using
Firefox browser.

When I copy the link into the body of the email, it is not highlighted
nor underlined. When it is received by the addressee, clicking on the
link does not take them to the URL.

I do not have this problem with Yahoo in Internet Explorer (which I
try not to use).

Using WinXP, Oodles of memory.

What version of firefox are you using? Have you got the newest 1.5.0.5 update.

Using latest version. I update frequently but this goes back at least
six versions with this problem.

I also tried the following fix but nothing changed:

This is to fix: Hypertex link will not transfer to URL using Yahoo
with Firefox browser
	http://www.slipstick.com/problems/firefox.htm

1. Click on "Computer" Icon to open
2. Select Tools and then Folder Options
3. Select the File Types tab
4. Select Extension: (NONE), File Type: HyperText Transfer Protocol
5. Click Advanced toward the bottom of the window
6. In the Edit File Type window, select open and click Edit
7. Clear the DDE message box (which should contain "%1%)
	C:\PROGRA~1\MOZILL~1\FIREFOX.EXE -url "%1%
8. Click OK, Click OK
9. Repeat for File Type: HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy
	C:\PROGRA~1\MOZILL~1\FIREFOX.EXE -url "%1%

I also restored system back as far as I could (April-May?).

Did that solve your problem?

No, it did not. I'm not really at the skill level to pursue this, but
after searching the internet I feel that there may be a problem with
the File Types for Firefox. These are the settings on my computer:

URL: HyperText Transfer Protocal
Application used to perform action: C:\PROGRA~1\MOZILL~1\FIREFOX.EXE -url "%1"

Use DDD
Checked

DDD Message
(Box is empty)

Application
Firefox

DDD Application Not Running
(Box is empty)

Topic
System

The one thing I notice is that the C:\PROGRA~1\MOZILL~1\FIREFOX.EXE -url "%1"
does not have the double quote at the beginning as it does if I set
Internet Explorer as the default browser. However, the system gives
me an error message when I add the " in the Firefox default browser
setting.

It seems you loose the hyperlink and paste only text. I do not use
yahoo, but I tried and there was no posibility to insert the
hyperlink. But a small workaround is to click the icon for a hyperlink
in yahoo (a earth with a staple). This opens a small window where you
can paste your hyperlink. Click done and in your mail is a hyperlink,
blue and underlined as it should be. And it is working, I have tested
it myself.
I used the german yahoo beta, if that makes a difference, write me
where you have your accout, and I will check.

If everything wokes fine, let me know and I will post this as and answer.

I am using the graphics version of Yahoo, with the toolbar and the Links icon:
"Globe with Links (Web) - Lets you insert a web site link."

However, whether I type in the URL or copy and paste it, when I click
on OK, nothing happens at the cursor in the body of the email.
(Perhaps the problem is with Yahoo, not Firefox, as I have assumed.)

I have requested the Beta version, so I suppose they have put me in
line to receive it eventually.

You say to "write me where you have your accout, and I will check."
I'm not sure what you mean...my email is lou.1026@yahoo.com.

noracel-ga, I tried the switch to Beta Yahoo again and indeed it did
activate this time. (I must not have actually activated it before,
although I thought I did.)

I tried the graphics toolbar Link and yes it does work in Beta. So
thanks much and do post your solution.

Footnote, I have been searching for a solution for several months and
quite a few versions of Firefox. None of the previous responses
worked. So thanks again.
