I use 4 computers on a regular basis. I also have 5 email addresses. I
use Mozilla Thunderbird as my mail client, to check all 5 addresses in
one program. Moving from computer to computer is my issue since the 4
computers can't be sync'd. I also cant leave the messages on the
server. With this kind of situation i'm scattered all over the place.
What i am looking for is a web based version of an email client like
thunderbird/outlook that can have multiple inboxes. I have a server
and will run the software on it. I like the looks of
http://www.roundcube.net it has a very sophisticated look, but it
dosent have this functionality. So i am looking for a webmail client
with the look of roundcube but with the functionality of
thunderbird/outlook. The most important thing is that this is not a
service provided by some one else but rather a program/app that i can
run on my server. Thanks so much! |

Hi!!
Why not to try with something like Inbox.com, this webmail service let
you to access your external POP email accounts from within the webmail
application.
After you register and get access to the service use the "Manage
Folders" feature to create five new folders, one for each of your
accounts; then you can use the "Sort Rules" at Settings to create 5
rules that sort incoming emails automatically by moving them to the
desired folder.
Inbox.com offers a free 2GB webmail account with online data storage
and cool features such as:
* Free Online Photosharing
* 2GB of Online Storage
* Calendar, Tasks & Notes
* SMTP/POP3 Access
For features description see:
http://www.inbox.com/features
Try this and let me know if this fits your needs.

While a good service, Inbox.com is not what i'm looking for. I'm
looking for a permanent solution that i run myself. By only being
given 2gb of storage that would not sufice. Although highly unlikely
if inbox.com went belly up i would loose all my saved email. Thanks
for the sugestion though.

Hi,
Perhaps V-webmail might do what you require?
http://www.v-webmail.org/
Although I have discovered that most of these applications require
access to an IMAP mail server (the idea being that a mail server is
the mose efficent place to store email, rather than the filesystem or
an SQL database I guess).
If an IMAP server is available to you, might I also suggest
redirecting the email from the 5 addresses to a single IMAP mail
account which can be checked from anywhere and remain in sync.
I use Thunderbird with IMAP email from three computers and find it an
ideal solution. It allows me to access my received and sent mail
accessible from any of my computers.

Sycophant
