I am looking for information on the most cost effective way to send data in the future. My company is looking at two methods: Send the data over a radio channel: The capital expense associated with this is farily high, however, once the system is in place the cost to send data is virtually $0. The other option is to send it over a cellular network. This carries a higher monthly cost (i.e we would most likely pay for unlimited data) and the capital expenses would not be as high. My gut feeling is that cellular communications will continue to rise and the cost of data transmission will decrease to a level that is acceptable. I am hoping to see if there are any trends in the cost of data transmission over a cellular network over the last few years so that we can extrapolate what the cost of data transmission will be in the upcoming 2-5 years. What I want to see is how much this cost has decreased and what the current average rates are to send 1 KB of data over a cellular network. Thanks, Chris | |
