I am seeking a website to perform online Chinese<->English
translations of entire WORDS (not just individual characters. If you
are unfamiliar with Chinese, words are often comprised of two
characters together, such as ??). I would like to paste in Chinese
characters to the web site, and then see:
- English translation
- pronunciation (whether pronounced or romanized, e.g. hui2-fu4 in Pinyin)
- if there are corresponding traditional/simplified characters, to see those too
Thank you

Try Google's Language Tools, or babelfish
http://babelfish.altavista.com/
(maybe they are the same?)

Also:  http://www.pingasianimports.com/Chinesepinyin/Translate.asp

maplekiwi, the link you give for pingasianimport is not for cn-en
trans...just for cn to cn-pingyin..

to be frankly, I don't think there's any tools can do such good
translation from cn-en up to now... Chinese is too hard for machine
translation...maybe you can try me, lol...

You could try using "Alexandria" (22 languages, including Chinese ->
English and English -> Chinese):
http://www.tv5.org/TV5Site/alexandria/definition.php (translation only)

However, "Chinese -> English" seems to be a bit difficult due to the
character coding used by Alexandria.

The 22 languages (in French):
"allemand, anglais, arabe, bulgare, chinois, coréen, espagnol,
estonien, français, grec, italien, japonais, néerlandais, norvégien,
polonais, portugais, roumain, russe, serbe, suédois, tchèque, turc"
http://www.tv5.org/TV5Site/alexandria/

Dear chrisasking-ga,

I don't know of one source that meets all of your criteria, but try the following:

1. www.adsotrans.com: At this website, you can enter/paste simplified
chinese charcters/words and get both the pinyin pronunciation and
English definition (to use, first past/type in the word you want to
translate; then hit enter and the Chinese characters will "reappear"
on the screen; mouse over the character for the pinyin and definition)

2. www.babelfish.altavista.com offers English->Simplified Chinese;
English->Traditional Chinese; Simplified Chinese->English; Traditional
Chinese->English. Buy using a combination of these translations steps,
you can get from Simplified Chinese to Traditional Chinese I believe.
