14 + 6 * 3 - 2 If you assume the standard order of operations 1. Parentheses 2. Exponents 3. Multiplication 4. Division 5. Addition 6. Subtract Then the answer is (14 + (6 * 3)) - 2 |

Are you sure this was typed exactly? This seems like a riddle to me, but I have not got 4642 with any techniques 14+6*3-2 = 30 (14+6)*3-2 = 58 (14+6)*(3-2) = 20 Results from trying to solve it as a riddle: fourteen plus six times three minus two with each character converted to ascii (including the spaces) and then summed = 3840 Even with throwing in the =4642 as ascii, it still only sums to = 4109 I have also tried converting these numbers to base 8 (oct) and base 16 (hex), I also thought about base 7, but did not want to do the math... I also tried concatenating the 14 and 6 146 * 3 - 2, etc. with no success Could you elaborate on the question: Is it a riddle? |

Well if their answer was 4642 then they had no idea what they were talking about The correct answer is 30, as already stated: 6*3 = 18 + 14= 32 -2 = 30 This is the "correct answer" according to standard rules. And if it is not a riddle, then those rules apply. In fact you can even put this in google to get the correct answer: ://www.google.com/search?q=fourteen+plus+six+times+three+minus+two |
