Question ID: 752093
I own an interactive web development firm in Los Angeles that develops
highly complex interactive websites. We have been in business for 8
years and have always attracted top talent across the world. I feel
we have hit a glass ceiling where we have gotten by without truly
defining a regimented process and documentation because of hiring
highly capable employees and are now at a critical stage in our growth
where a system is way over due. We have tried numerous times to
unwind the spaghetti like issues in reverse engineering a process that
we can implement consistently and perfect over time. The common
problem of not being able to stop the world to change the world comes
into play when any executive steps up to ?own? this process. I feel
that leveraging a process consultant that is intimate with our
industry possibly having retired early from a larger competitor such
as Sapient, Razorfish, Organic, AKQA, etc. or consulting firm in Los
Angeles or Silicon Valley, could work with our executive staff to
focus on applying progress everyday, gathering information,
implementing change, and refining based on results. So I am
interested in finding an expert in business process design that has
specific industry experience with web development firms or software
service companies. An alternative to a consultant would be to find a
consulting company that has industry experience that can apply an even
greater effort with a team.

Hello level5-ga,

Is your name related to Jim Collins? Level 5 Leadership? Just wondering.

I?m not sure what you expect as an answer. The assignment you?ve
described is usually handed to a top executive recruiting firm. The
challenge you?ve described is to locate a key contributor to help take
your company to the next level.

I?ve taken a quick look to get an understanding of your industry. It?s
clear that this is a very competitive field and I?m sure that if your
company is as outstanding as you say it is, you?re familiar with the
competitive landscape.

Your summary of your quest states: ?So I am interested in finding an
expert in business process design that has specific industry
experience with web development firms or software service companies.
An alternative to a consultant would be to find a consulting company
that has industry experience that can apply an even greater effort
with a team.

These kinds of candidates or consultants are usually identified either
through personal word-of-mouth because of the individual?s reputation
in the field or by using a top notch headhunter. Have you considered
these options?

Clearly, Google Answers researchers will not be able to handle the
recruiting job for you. I suggest that I could do the following
research to help you.

1) Identify headhunters/recruiters who specialize in your field and
handle assignments at the appropriate level for the job you?re trying
to fill. I would need additional information about the qualifications
you?re looking for be able to complete this search.

AND/OR

2) Identify blogs, experts, publications that track your industry to
help find sources for information about people in your industry. You
could then use these to develop targeted networking contacts to
identify candidates for your job

AND/OR

3) You tell me. How can I assist with finding the expert you need?

I look forward to your clarification.

Hi!

After an extensive search, I was not able to find process experts that
cater to your company. Knowing this, would process experts that have
experience with technology companies be ok with you?

Thanks.
