I have a mobile kitchen trailer that has 440 amps worth of equipment inside of it. It is all general household kitchen equipment. What size/type/brand generator would best run such a trailer? |

Are you sure its really 440 amps? That is an enormous amount of current. A 12000 BTU air conditioner is about 10 amps. |

I suppose that high a total is possible. If you will not generally be running more than 9% simultainiously: 41 amps at 240 volts is 10,000 watts. Some of the items likely run on 120 volts. Weight, cost, noise and vibration will be a problem if you use a generator much bigger than 10,000 watts. If you over-load the circuit breaker will trip. but you can reset after removing part of the load. Sam's club had some 10,000 watt generators last year, but they were almost $1000. Neil |
