Hello robrizzo3-ga,

The comment below by bogene2020-ga is correct: SeamlessWeb.com does
use Dell as their supplier as referenced in the NY Times article dated
March 2, 2005.

"Seamlessweb.com has exclusive relationships with the restaurants it
represents and has worked out an arrangement with Dell to supply the
restaurants with dedicated computers to make sure orders are processed
and menus are kept current."

Dell does not wholesale to computer retailers, but they do give
substantial discounts to Dell VARS (Value Added Reseller) which
generally means that a service or customized software/product comes
along with the computer. The number for the reseller division is:
1-800-901-3355, press 1 and then use extension 724-9243.

It is important to note though, that using Dell is not a requirement
for potential customers. One of their key selling points is that
"SeamlessWeb is an Internet-based system, so there is no software to
install or dedicated technology resources required to use the
service".

It is more a service than a product.

query and I will do my best to further assist you.

Can you try to determine the amount that Dell charges Seamlessweb or
the restaurants that work with them?

Hello robrizzo3-ga,

I contacted a business sales rep at Dell and they said that the
discounts are related to volume. Because of high volume, there is a
discount code rate that applies to the business. They can order any
computer (even customized ones) and the discount is applied on a
sliding scale (less of a % discount on low cost items, higher %
discount on high cost items). In order to set up a business account as
a VAR (value-added-reseller) the requirements are A) volume, B) some
service or customization that you deliver.

I hope this helps,

Since Google is not adding any new reseachers . I am forced to provide
this answer for free . Seamless web is using Dell Computers and I
believe that their solution is web based and as such the restaurants
probably dont have any software installed .
