I am trying to find the title of a movie that I saw when I was
younger, probably around the mid-80's. It is mix of live action and
animation. The movie begins with a boy going to the library where he
ends up meeting a bookworm. From what I remember, the boy was not
excited to be at the library and did not like to read. The bookworm
recommended stories to the boy and I think actually introduces him to
the characters in the books. As he reads the stories, we see them as
if we are reading with him. There are three short stories. I think one
was about a woman and a dragon. I for sure remember one involved a
skeleton that was buried in a shack behind a house and something about
the word Pim, like that was the skeleton's name. I almost think that
this was a TV movie, maybe like a PBS special?

Although released in 1994, does this sound like your movie?

The Pagemaster
A blend of live-action and animation, this film centers on a fearful
young boy (Macaulay Culkin) afraid to experience life because he's
calculated the odds of an accident for every known activity. Chased by
bullies, he winds up at the local library, where a bump on the head
sends him into an animated universe, where his best friends are
walking, talking books voiced by, among others, Patrick Stewart and
Whoopi Goldberg. The Pagemaster (Christopher Lloyd) points the way to
the exit, but the boy must first traverse the adventures of literary
history, encountering everyone from Dr. Jekyll to Captain Ahab to Long
John Silver.

I don't think that this is it... I remember watching it when I was
fairly young, maybe 5 or 6, so that would be 1984-85ish. I don't
remember any classic characters like you mentioned either. I'm sorry!

I should have looked at the link before I posted, but with seeing just
the small picture on Amazon, this is definitely not the movie that I'm
thinking of.

Arlo, a 200-year-old bookworm who lives at the library. These programs
