I am a Canadian, residing in Canada.
I am traveling to Miami in December.

I would like to learn about the different transport options to Cuba.

I understand it is possible to rent a speedboat that is not registered
in the US and travel to cuba. Is this true? If so, what is the
pricing?
Are there other travel options?

What is the cheapest way for myself and a friend to travel to cuba for
a day or two

For a sense of adventure - I would like to travel by sea.

Also, since it's only about 60 miles - i'd like to be able to make
this happen for less than 300$US

A chartered boat out of the FLA keys?

Thanks for the comments though!

Maybe you should ask your travel agent about flying from Miami to
Havana via Cancun, Montego Bay or Nassau. There are direct flights
from Miami to Havana, but you have to get a special visa to fly on
them.

Hi plashkes

There was recently a similar question to yours printed in the (paper)
edition of the British Sunday newspaper "The Observer". As I recall
the questioner was advised that the US trade embargo with Cuba means
that any vessel -- either boat or plane -- with Cuban stamps on its
docking sheet is automatically denied permission to dock/land at US
territory. The best advice given was to take a boat or plane to one of
the other Carribean islands and from there to take a ferry to Cuba.

I haven't (yet) been able to locate the information on
http://www.observer.co.uk/ but I'll have a deeper look, and I'll also
try to find out if my mother, who is a bit of a hoarder, still has the
relevant edition of the paper!

I'm sure it is possible, but probably not in your price range. These
are the best options I could find:

Direct Flights from Miami

Cruises that take more than 2 days
