Hello again timespacette-ga,
Thanks for asking for me again. I?m surprised your boys still haven?t
left. At least they missed out on our recent heat wave.
I don?t think they?ll have any trouble finding free WiFi access in San
Francisco. The City is moving forward with its plans for universal
access and I?m providing you with updates so you can follow the saga.
In the meantime, I?m also providing you with directories for finding
hot spots.
There are several food coops in San Francisco and they?re not too hard
to access. I don?t know if they?re as big as your PCC but they?re well
established and have a long track record. In addition, I?ve also
included links to San Francisco?s farmers? markets. I think these will
provide access to wonderful fresh fruits and vegetables.
I hope that the information I?ve provided will be helpful. I?m glad to
see you active on Google Answers again.
Best wishes for the boys? move to San Francisco.

No such thing as a free connection
Will San Franciscans have to pay for free city-wide WiFi--with their privacy?
By Jia Lynn Yang, FORTUNE reporter
April 26, 2006: 2:38 PM EDT
NEW YORK (FORTUNE) - Privacy watchdogs are scrutinizing Google's plan
to deliver free WiFi to San Francisco?and they don't like everything
they're seeing.
Earlier this month, the city approved a joint proposal from Google
(Research) and Earthlink (Research) to turn San Francisco into a giant
wireless hot spot. Users will have two choices: They can pay Earthlink
$20 a month, or get free access from Google if they're willing to
tolerate a slower connection and Google's ads. They'll also have to
sign in each time they use the network.

Update on wi-fi in San Francisco
6/28/2006 03:55:00 PM
Posted by Minnie Ingersoll, Product Manager
In April the City and County of San Francisco chose the bid from
EarthLink and Google to offer citywide Wi-Fi access, and we're
thrilled about that. A key part of this project has been keeping
citizens apprised of our progress and answering questions along the
way. Towards this end, we recently sent a letter to the City of San
Francisco that addresses our commitment to user privacy. We look
forward to continuing our work with EarthLink and the City to build a
citywide wireless network.

Rainbow Grocery Cooperative, Inc.
Editorial Rating: Not Rated
In Short
Opened in 1975 by eight dedicated individuals who wanted to provide a
wholesome alternative to commercial stores, this co-op remains true to
its populist roots. The main draw is its overflowing supply of organic
and earth-friendly products. If you're on the prowl for big-name
products or meat, though, you'll want to head elsewhere. Buyers are
strict, maintaining an almost anarchist agenda, and they make sure
only the good-for-you stuff hits the shelves. Prices are somewhat
higher than at the supermarket chains, but you'll at least feel better
knowing that you're treating yourself to the very best.

SAN FRANCISCO FARMER?S MARKETS
==============================
http://www.sallys-place.com/food/farmers_markets/sf_mkts.htm
Each of the three San Francisco markets (Ferry Plaza, UN Plaza and
Alemany Boulevard) has its own personality. The Ferry Plaza Farmers
Market is the most up-scale. ? The UN Plaza market caters to the Asian
population of the surrounding neighborhood, ? The Alemany market is
the granddaddy of Bay Area farmers markets. It's been in business for
fifty years and features both organic and conventionally grown
produce, dried fruit, nuts, herbs, eggs, jams and fish. Prices are
moderate and quality is good.

The Scene
Twice a week, produce stands representing farms from Santa Rosa to
Santa Cruz sprout up in this windy Civic Center triangle between the
New Main Library and Market Street. At this scruffy but busy market,
growers hawk their garden-fresh goodies for pennies on the pound. Most
days, live entertainment sprouts up as well, adding to the bustle.
