I'm working on a text adventure game based in ancient Greece and I need to spice up my descriptions of the architecture and clothing. I know that I could just get books that are actually about ancient Greece architecture and clothing. But, I was hoping that I could save some time and get a book that's specifically meant for writers. There are various forms this might take. I could imagine a book of pictures with short descriptions below each one which are intended to describe the scene to someone who was not able to see the pictures. Or, I suppose it could just be a large set of short room descriptions. Does anything like this exist? | |

Unfortunately, I've never seen anything like what you're asking for, a book specifically for writers that describes ancient greece etc. But as a writer myself, I've found that illustrated children's books can be quite helpful - I'm sure there will be an illustrated history of ancient greece/history of clothes/history of buildings in the childrens section of your local library with lots of cool pictures and a bit of description. Being a kids book, it'll be pretty succint, easy to understand etc - and you'll have scope to extend the description for your project. Hope this is helpful?! Good Luck!!! alice |

Here is one such book: http://www.houghtonmifflinbooks.com/catalog/titledetail.cfm?titleNumber=561129 And maybe these websites could be of help: http://www.historyforkids.org/learn/greeks/architecture/greekarch.htm http://library.thinkquest.org/26264/art/analysis/site004.htm www.ems.psu.edu/academic/cause2001/bulinski.doc |
