Question ID: 753063
In the United Arab Emirates automobile market,

1) How much gold is used in the airbags of automobiles?
2) Where exactly in the airbag is the gold located?

Questions 1 & 2 will be different for every manufacturer, and by year,
please answer these questions for the most popular manufacturers in
the market. Note that a Toyota Camry in UAE is slightly different from
a Camry in the USA. I assume that Toyota airbags are the same
everywhere, but perhaps this isn't the case. Data in old cars that
would be in junk yards is more important than new cars.

3) Will airbags be required by UAE law in the future? (if you can't
find this, it's not a big deal... only answer if information is easy
to find).

There is no answer at this time.

The gold used in airbag systems is the gold plating on the electrical
contacts. Gold is used to ensure the integrity of these contacts over
long periods of time, because it doesn't tarnish.

Note: The gold plating need only be the thickness of a single gold
atom, and so the total amount of gold in a single airbag system has
infinitesimal market value all by itself.

I wouldn't go digging around in airbags. They use Sodium Azide:

Which isn't a very friendly chemical to mess with. It makes a toxic
gas if it gets wet, and it explodes if it gets in contact with many
types of metals! Not fun.

QED100, how do you know this? I work in the refining business, and was
told that there is a quantity of gold such that it is worthwhile to
extract. Thanks for your help...
