I recently returned home after an episode of emphysema and would now like to provide the cleanest and the best possible air for my home breathing. I live in Florida and my air conditioner runs constantly at 77 degrees. What is the best possible system for my home? |

Get a HEPA filter. They're made specifically for this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HEPA Air conditioners remove the humidity from the air. HEPA filters remove any particles in the air. The only other thing you could do beyond this is use activated carbon as well, which would remove chemicals from the air, but that's a little overkill. Since you're going to be spending SEVERAL HUNDRED dollars on a HEPA filter for a house, I highly recommend you visit a local dealership, to ensure that you'll get one that will match your house. |

I put in an over the counter filter that took out small particles and my air- conditioning costs doubled until I took it out. I decided that I needed much more filter area, which no standard filter could provide. The cheapest way is to filter the air in the room you stay in with an in-room HEPA filter. If you want to use a whole house filter it needs to be specially constructed with a large surface area, if you desire low air-conditioning costs. This filter or filter box will not fit your existing air conditioner. Search the Internet for HEPA filter manufacturers or have a specialist who knows what he/she is doing, to work with you. If you smoke you need to stop or figure out how you have caused your medical problem, in the first place. Most of us cause our own sickness. Good luck. |
