Question ID: 753233
Some time ago, I purchased a pre-owned Magnavox television from a
hotel that went out of business. The manufacture date is May 1994 and
the model number is EM3019 K403.
I've used a VCR as a tuner for this television since I've had it, but
now I need to use the built-in television tuner. However, once I
connected my coaxial cable directly to the television, I discovered
the only channel I can select is three. The channel-up and
channel-down buttons do not change the channel. If I attempt to type
in a channel other than three using my universal remote, the TV
responds with the message "CHANNEL 4 NOT AVAILABLE". I am using the
RadioShack 3-in-one Remote (15-2147). The code that works best for
this model television is 0054.

Doing my own research, I've discovered my television is stuck in
something called "Hotel Mode" or "Hospitality Mode". One suggestion in
a newsgroup was to type in 062596 <menu> on the remote to enter
service mode, but that did not work.

There are seven buttons on the front of the set: (menu, status, volume
down, volume up, channel down, channel up, and power). Another website
suggested holding two buttons at the same time for six seconds to
enter service mode. I tried all 21 potential combinations with no
results.

A third website suggested typing in 062596 <menu on the remote>, or
062597 <menu on the remote>, or 062596 [status on the set], or 062597
[status on the set]. I tried all those combinations to no avail.

A follow-up to the third posting I noted indicated that success with
the procedure may require the use of a UR12 TRANSMITTER or T213AG
TRANSMITTER, but I cannot locate such transmitters.

Finally, another web reference suggested holding the mute button on
the remote while pressing one of the buttons on the front of the set,
but that also did not work.

Can someone please provide the specific steps I need to take (or
universal transmitter I need to purchase) to set the Magnavox EM3019
K403 television, manufactured in May 1994, into Normal (Consumer)
Mode?

Thank you very much.
Frank

Maybe look for a switch where your cable enters the tv.

I looked for a switch and didn't see one.
I even took the television apart and remove the main board, looking
for some switch or reset -- didn't see anything useful.

I use to work with Phillips electronics ..... you would actual need a
code to reset ..... as Phillips call center is no longer in Jamaica
I cannot provide with the code but I would suggest that to contact
Phillips electronics customer care and someone will be able to assist
you ...just insist on speaking with a supervisor
